CARBOXYMETHYLCELLULOSE HYDROACTIVE DRESSING
Treatment of skin lesions of various aetiology, acute or chronic, superficial and cavity, moderately to heavily exuding, of partial or total depth, such as:
- Ulcers of the lower extremities
- Pressure ulcers (stage II - IV)
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Post-operative wounds
- Surgical wounds left open for healing by secondary intention
- Donor sites
- Partial thickness burns
- Traumatic wounds, such as abrasions and lacerations
- Neoplastic ulcers caused by primary tumours or skin metastases (e.g. mycosis fungoides, K aposi sarcoma, etc.)
- L ightly bleeding wounds
DESCRIPTION
Farmactive CM C is a sterile hydro-active dressing, composed of non-woven gelling fibres of pure sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCM C). The dressing is soft, conformable and highly absorbent; it absorbs exudate vertically, thus instantly forming a soft gel that retains the absorbed fluids.
These gelling properties contribute therefore to maintaining the optimal moist environment of the wound, thus promoting its healing processes and making dressing removal non-traumatic, without causing damage to the newly-formed tissue. The product is biocompatible and non-irritating.
