DESCRIPTION
Farmactive PU Foam Silicone Comfort is a conformable dressing of polyurethane foam that may be used on a wide range of acute and chronic lesions, and is available in two versions: with and without border. The product is easily conformable and highly absorbent, for the effective management of wound exudate. Both versions have a soft silicone layer that comes into contact with the lesion, which minimises pain. In this way, the dressing may be removed with ease, without damaging the wound and the perilesional skin. This means less pain for the patient.
In addition, the silicone contact layer seals the wound’s edges to protect the skin from lateral exudate leaks and from maceration.
The various formats and sizes of Farmactive Foam Silicone Comfort guarantee its versatility; it is, in fact, possible to easily cut a foam dressing without border to meet particular needs, related to lesions in hard-to-dress areas of the body.
Farmactive PU Foam Silicone Comfort without border is composed of:
- an external layer in polyurethane film, impermeable to liquids, bacteria and viruses, breathable; it is thus able to create an impenetrable barrier that protects the lesion.
- an intermediate soft and absorbent layer of hydro-cellular polyurethane foam.
- a soft silicone layer that comes into contact with the wound.
Farmactive PU Foam Silicone Comfort with border is a versatile " all -in -one" foam dressing, available in various measure - ments and sizes, which does not require extra means of fixation. It may be used for the treatment of acute and chronic wounds.
The four-layer structure includes:
1) The silicone contact layer that renders the dressing non-traumatic and minimises the patient’s pain, as it adheres to the skin delicately without sticking to the moist wound bed; as such, it may be removed easily without damaging the newlyformed tissue and the perilesional skin.
2) The absorbent layer of hydrophilic polyurethane foam, which retains moisture and exudate, protecting the perilesional skin from maceration.
3) The retention layer with cellulose fibres, which absorbs the exudate and retains it, so that the layers closer to the wound may continue to absorb additional liquids.
4) PU cover film, semi-permeable but breathable, which prevents bacteria and viruses from entering the wound, also guaranteeing the balanced evaporation of aqueous vapour.
